Tests? What tests!!

The 2nd week of term..and already a test? Geez…They don’t break you in slowly like they do in the states!

I’ve got tests in Care of Magical Creatures (easy…), that insanely boring History of Magic and Potions. I’m so overwhelmed with tests that my hair turned purple! I had to change it back to my normal shade of brown with high and low lights. I really should just make it straight permanently..but where’s the fun in that. I like being able to change at will. I wondered abotu that..I’m the only one in my family who can change their apperance at will. Wonder if that’s why the ‘rents wanted me close…this metamorphageous thing is kinda funky. But, it really is fun.

I think after I study, I’ll go knit for a bit. I’ve got some socks that need working on.

but I better go study…especially for History of Magic. That class is going to be the death of me!

Dear Mom and Dad

Things are really starting to get into high gear here at Hogwarts.  I’ve had almost all of my classes, except for Astronomy, because that meets at midnight..and that’s tonight. I’m really terribly bored in History of Magic. Why can’t this be like the other place and only require one year of it? Come on. I really don’t know if I can take this for another few years. ICK!

My housemates are really cool. I’m really glad I’m in Hufflepuff. There are a lot of knitters here, so I can knit with a group of friends when I’m not working on my homework or teaching the frogs a new song or two. Right now, my whole knitting thing is socks, because they’re portable and I can put them down when I need to.

Everyone’s taking bets on how long Professor Lufkin is going to last. Personally, I give him until the end of the school year, as from what I”m hearing, all of the people who’ve left have done so at the end of second term. Got any thoughts on that?

Seamus sent me some of the latest candies from Weasley’s. I’m a smidge worried…because I think one of these is a Canary Creme. Yeah..really…I need to turni nto a canary for any length of time. He also sent me a pack of Milky Ways from home. You can’t get them here, and y’all know, I’m seriously addicted to that and kettle corn..and you can’t get that here either!!

So, now that it’s bedtime, I’ll sign off…really, I’m ok here…missing you and the states…but I’ll be fine. It’s good here!

Love,

Clidonia

Time for Classes! Time for Classes!

Today marks the start of classes! Finally!

The good news is that as a transfer, I can take Care of Magical Creatures. The bad news is that I don’t get out of History of Magic. Blah. That was the only good thing about the other school. One year of History of Magic, and then you were done with that droning bore of a subject! But, oh, well.

So, my class rundown looks like this:

  • History of Magic (blah! Ick!)
  • Potions
  • Care of Magical Creatures (Wonder if Prof. Grubbly-Plank will let me bring my frogs down…)
  • Transfiguration
  • Herbology
  • Charms
  • Astronomy
  • Defense against the Dark arts

Now, we’ve got a new professor-Professor Lufkin-for Defense Against the Dark Arts. Wonder how long he’ll last. Word has it that this job is jinxed. Even in the states the word is that if you get the Defense against the Dark Arts job at Hogwarts, something will happen, and you’ll only be there for one school year or less! I totally wonder what the deal is, but I have strict orders to behave myself and not go poking around too much. Mom and Dad told me I did enough poking around at the other school.

I’m really thinking about trying out for the house Quidditch team. I played keeper in the States for my house. I figure what can it hurt? Something else to do. I love playing keeper. Tryouts are next week, so, I’ll have to get my broom polished up and my keeping skills at the ready and go out for the team.

This week, I’ve been teaching the frogs Queen songs-They’re getting quite good. Now, if I could move them on from We will Rock you and Bohemian Rhapsody I’d be thrilled. I really want them to sing a few others. Ya know, some more obscure stuff. BUT, these frogs sing what they want, when they want. Right now, they’re onto some 80’s one hit wonder…Rockwell, I think? I swear Seamus taught them that one to get even with me last time I was home.

But this should be interesting. It’s a smidge nerve wracking, being a transfer. I don’t know if I know enough to do well, I don’t know what the profs will think of me being a transfer from another school. I didn’t wash out, but my grades weren’t so hot either. I guess that’s why Mom and Dad transferred me here. It’s weird. They sent Seamus here from the get-go, but not me. Wonder what the dealio was. Wonder if they wanted to try and keep me close…

Garbage…just looked at the time. My first Potions class here. Man..don’t want to be late!

Ooh! Owl post with my wand!

What Harry Potter Wand Are You?
Your Result: 11″ Mahogany, Unicorn Hair

Your wand is of average length, with a sturdy, but not inflexible wood. Unicorn Hair is less common than most wand cores (owing to the high probability of being skewered), though easily found at Ollivander’s. Your wand is ideal for a Healer.

12.5″ Yew, Dragon Heartstring

9″ Willow, Phoenix Feather

14″ Holly, Veela Hair

10.5″ Ash, Phoenix Feather

11.5″ Yew, Unicorn Hair

8.5″ Mahogany, Dragon Heartstring

11″ Ash, Hippogriff Talon

So, you wanted to see them…

Here are my frogs!

Meet Leapster and iPod!

I got kinda bored at my last school…so, I started teaching them how to sing songs. Right now, Muggle Top 40 is their favorite…so, if they start to bug any of you, let me know, and I’ll put a muffalato charm on them so you don’t hear them. On the flip side, if you’ve got any requests, we can teach them those too!

Right now, they’re liking Mariah Carey…and they’re really liking vintage Duran Duran. Can’t go wrong with that!

Dear Seamus…

How’s my favorite older brother?

Yes, I’m safely at Hogwarts, and so are the frogs. Yes, I know you could care less about my frogs because they kept you up with their singing most nights…and FYI-they’re learning Muggle top 40!

The headmistress seems nice. Haven’t gotten to know her yet, but I think I will, especially if the frogs continue their noctournal singing. I’m hoping I can keep them limited to daytime, and the prefects and head girl won’t freak out on me. I don’t think Professor Sprout will mind, but who knows.

I ran into Bella Shacklebolt today. She got some sort of “inter house unity scholarship” and moved into Slytherin. I’m a bit frightened that she picked Slytherin, but I guess if that’s what she wants…I hope she still stays as nice as she’s always been, especially around the neighborhood.

How are things over there? Have you done any work on your new “game pub” yet? Got any ideas for names?

Mom and Dad keep writing, whining that they have an empty house, and it’s just too quiet without the two of us there making nose. Should we think up something to send them that makes as much noise as the two of us did?

As for my classes, I’ve got all of the basics. Nothing too fun yet, but I’m hoping to see if they’ll let me advance into care of magical creatures. I’d really love to get my hands on some of those! Herbology looks like a blast…I hope we get to touch all sorts of good stuff!

Ok. It’s tine for dinner. I’m going to run.

Love,

Clidonia

Dear Mom and Dad

I’ve arrived safely at Hogwarts for the new term. The train ride was quite…interesting, as one of the people in my car kept levitating the pumpkin pasties off of the Witch’s trolley.

Yes, my frogs are ok. They survived the train ride no problem. I’m working on setting up their tank so that they can be as comfortable as possible. Can you please send some extra frog food, as I don’t know where I put it, and the accio spell isn’t working properly. Figures, doesn’t it?

I promise I’ll write as often as I can, because classes will be starting soon. I’ll use the school’s owls to send you letters, until I get one of my own. Are you guys planning to make any trips to Eylops anytime soon? Hrm?

Ok, it’s breakfast time. I need to go and get down to the great hall for the food and announcements before I head off to finish unpacking and getting used to the common room!

Love,

Clidonia
